It is a knock-off but it works.
My 90K mile starter had pretty much had it. I even rebuilt the solenoid. But the old starter was crying uncle. This was the cheapest replacement I could find for the bike. I got it right away. And right away I noticed that it was not an original HD starter. But being stuck between a rock and a hard place I installed it after installing an emergency start button on the solenoid. It fit and bolted right up.
Holding my eyes tightly closed I turned on the bike and hit the start button. Waiting for the deafening silence I was rewarded to hear the starter spool up. The bike was cold and it took several hits to get it started. The bike started! Ya!
Do I think it's gonna last like a 400.00 starter? No. But right now it's working so I guess that's enough said.
